The Isle of Man Government will host the 41st Summit meeting of the British-Irish Council (BIC) next week.

This Summit meeting will be attended by political leaders and officials from the BIC Member Administrations and will focus on renewable energy, specifically ways to ‘unlock the economic and social opportunities of renewables across these islands’.

The British-Irish Council was established under the 1998 Belfast/Good Friday Agreement to promote good, practical, positive, and mutually beneficial relations between the people across these islands.

The British-Irish Council (BIC) Drugs and Alcohol Work Sector, held a Ministerial meeting hosted by the Government of Ireland. The meeting was chaired by Hildegarde Naughton, Minister of State for Public Health, Wellbeing and the National Drugs Strategy, Government of Ireland. Ministers approved a Forward Work Plan to drive and direct activity for the period 2024-2026.

Next week, the British-Irish Council Drugs and Alcohol Work Sector will hold a Ministerial meeting hosted by the Government of Ireland. The meeting will be chaired by Hildegarde Naughton, Minister of State for Public Health, Well Being and the National Drugs Strategy, Government of Ireland.

In recent years, officials from the Drugs and Alcohol Work Sector have shared their learning, perspectives and experiences on drugs and alcohol policy across the BIC Member Administrations.
