Environment Ministerial Meeting held in Guernsey

The 14th British-Irish Council Environment Ministerial meeting took place today, hosted by Deputy Barry Brehaut, President of the Committee for the Environment and Infrastructure, on behalf of the Government of Guernsey at St Pierre Park Hotel, Guernsey. The meeting was chaired by Thérèse Coffey MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Environment and Rural Life Opportunities in the UK Government.   

The meeting focused on papers on addressing the problem of food waste and improving the quality and quantity of recycling. Ministers endorsed the need to tackle food waste and committed to working together to develop and share ideas and experiences of policy interventions to support each administration’s ambitions on food waste. They also agreed agreed that all Member Administrations should continue to share information and experiences in relation to recycling challenges.
