Sixteenth BIC Environment Ministerial to be hosted by the UK Government

30 October 2020

The British-Irish Council Environment work sector is preparing to hold its sixteenth Ministerial meeting next week, hosted by the UK Government.  The meeting will be held via a virtual platform due to Covid-19 public health requirements across all Member Administrations.

Throughout this year, the British Irish Council has remained actively engaged with officials meeting virtually to progress the work of the Council and share learning and experience through online seminars and presentations.  This ministerial level meeting will be the first time the British-Irish Council has convened a virtual ministerial meeting and Ministers will be considering issues relating to climate change, the Marine Environment and Invasive Non Native Species.

Lord Gardiner of Kimble, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Rural Affairs and Biosecurity will chair on behalf of the UK Government.
