British-Irish Council Social Inclusion Ministerial Group

Ministers today endorsed a report on “The Contribution of the Third Sector to Social Inclusion” at a meeting of the British-Irish Council Social Inclusion Ministerial Group in Cardiff.

Officials from British–Irish Council (BIC) Member Administrations  today attended a reception at Thistle House to mark the establishment of the new BIC Standing Secretariat in Edinburgh. Scotland’s First Minister the Rt Hon Alex Salmond MSP visited the new Secretariat, the establishment of which is a significant milestone in the implementation of the Belfast and St Andrews Agreements.
 
The Secretariat will be jointly headed by UK (Jeremy Martin) and Irish Government  (Ciarán Byrne) officials.

The British-Irish Council Administrations today (Thursday 24 November 2011) called on the EU to give its full backing to the development of the massive ocean energy resource that exists in their regions.

Ministers of the governments of Ireland, the UK, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey today called on the European Union to give its full backing to the development of the massive ocean energy resources that exist in these regions.
