33rd British-Irish Council Summit to be Hosted by Ireland

06 November 2019

The Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar TD, will host the 33rd British-Irish Council Summit meeting next week. It will be the fifth time the BIC Summit has been hosted by the Irish Government. The meeting will be attended by leaders and ministers from the Council’s Member Administrations.

One of the main discussion topics at the summit will be a presentation by the Irish Government on the North East Inner City Initiative in Dublin, a project which focuses on the transformation of the delivery of health services for drug users in the city. The health policy ministers in attendance will have an opportunity to discuss policy areas such as health and social initiatives, community policing and to provide examples of other initiatives from within their own administrations.

Ministers will also commemorate the 20 year anniversary of the British-Irish Council which first met in December 1999.
