The British-Irish Council (BIC) held its 40th Summit meeting today hosted by the Government of Ireland. Heads of delegation were welcomed by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.

 

The Council took the opportunity to reflect on the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and on the latest political developments across their administrations. The Council also held a thematic discussion on Transforming Children’s Lives: Tackling Child Poverty and Improving Wellbeing.

The Government of Ireland will host the 40th British-Irish Council Summit next week.

The meeting will be attended by ministers and officials from the BIC Member Administrations. The focus of the Summit will be on Transforming Children’s Lives: Tackling Child Poverty and Improving Wellbeing.

This will be the 6th time the Government of Ireland has hosted a British-Irish Council Summit.

The British-Irish Council (BIC) held its 39th Summit meeting today hosted by the Government of Jersey. Heads of delegation were welcomed by the Chief Minister of the Government of Jersey, Deputy Kristina Moore.
