First Joint Collaborative Spatial Planning and Housing Ministerial meeting hosted by the Northern Ireland Executive

25 February 2021

The British-Irish Council Housing and Collaborative Spatial Planning (CSP) work sectors held the first Joint BIC Ministerial meeting today, chaired by Minister for Infrastructure, Nichola Mallon MLA and Minister for Communities Deidre Hargey MLA, of the Northern Ireland Executive.  The meeting was held virtually, due to the current Covid-19 public health requirements across all Member Administrations.

This ministerial level meeting brought together Ministers with responsibility for Housing and Collaborative Spatial Planning to discuss the collaborative work undertaken by these two BIC work sectors over recent years, culminating in the publication of a guide to “Creating an Inclusive Vision for our Ageing Populations”. Ministers also considered key policy areas related to housing and spatial planning, particularly in the context of the impact of Covid-19, and endorsed the forward work plans of both work sectors for the period ahead.
