The British-Irish Council Transport work sector will hold a Ministerial meeting this week, which will be hosted by the Northern Ireland Executive. The meeting will be chaired by Nichola Mallon MLA, Minister for Infrastructure, the Northern Ireland Executive.

Officials from the Transport work sector have shared their learning and experiences on an ongoing basis throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Having successfully completed projects based around active travel, the work sector is looking forward to progressing the work of the Council in further areas of mutual interest.

Ministers at their meeting this week will consider topics including issues surrounding the electrification of vehicles.  Ministers will also consider and agree a plan for the future focus of the work sector over the next two to three years,  addressing the areas of Modal Shift; Decarbonisation of public transport vehicles and Decarbonisation of the freight fleet.
