BIC Misuse of Substances Ministerial Meeting hosted by Government of Ireland

The British-Irish Council Misuse of Substances work sector held a virtual Ministerial meeting today, hosted by Frank Feighan T.D., Minister of State for Public Health, Well Being and National Drugs Strategy, on behalf of the Government of Ireland. 

This Ministerial meeting brought together Ministers with responsibility for drug and alcohol policy to review the work sectors consideration of financial mechanisms to reduce the consumption of alcohol and approaches to measuring the effectiveness of addiction services and harm reduction interventions. Ministers also agreed the future focus of the work sector, including the implications of Covid-19, and the delivery of drug and alcohol services.

During the meeting, Ministers also heard from Professor Dame Carol Black on her recent review of prevention, treatment and recovery services in England.
